Bio

Dr. Raffy Dorian was born and raised in Fresno, CA. He studied animal science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from U.C. Davis in 1996. He also went on to complete a Masters in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from U.C. Davis in 1999. His areas of interest include internal, preventive and emergency medicine.  Since graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Dorian has been in private practice in San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz and San Diego counties. During his time in San Diego County, Dr. Dorian established Mobile Veterinary Practice, an equine and small animal ambulatory/house call practice, and also established Market Street Veterinary Clinic, downtown San Diego's first small animal clinic. In addition, he was also a  co-owner of WindanSea Veterinary Clinic, a small animal hospital in La Jolla. In 2016, Dr. Dorian returned to the San Luis Obispo area and opened Central Coast Veterinary Services, an equine and small animal practice that provides mobile services to the community.​ In 2022, Dr. Dorian partnered with Dr. Gutman and Jacob Wright to start Vetama based on Central Coast Veterinary Services.

He has been a consultant and certified representative for the American Humane Association Film and Television unit ensuring the safety of animal actors on motion picture and television productions. He has also worked with the California Veterinary Medical Board as a Veterinary Expert Witness and has participated as a Subject Matter Expert for the California Veterinary State Board Exam. He has also provided consulting services to the San Luis Obispo Sheriff's  office and the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services Department. He also provides independent veterinary consulting services for litigation as a Veterinary Expert Witness. Emphasizing education and outreach, Dr. Dorian’s past activities have included lecturing in the animal science department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for over two years, advising the U.C. San Diego Pre-Veterinary Student Association and mentoring more than forty students who have successfully gained admission to veterinary school. He has been a guest lecturer for the animal health department at San Diego Mesa College and at the University of San Diego health career forum. Providing important pet-related information to the community, Dr. Dorian has been a guest on San Diego Living XETV, Good Morning San Diego KUSI TV and The Show 105.3 FM radio. For two years he hosted his own radio show "A Place for the Animals" a half hour talk show discussing all things related to animals on Morro Bay's 97.3/107.9 The Rock.  

Additionally, Dr. Dorian has functioned as an official veterinarian at the Del Mar National Dressage show (2006), the Cuyamaca Ride and Tie (2003), the Lakeside Rodeo (2003) and the Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo rodeo (1998). He is a member of the following professional associations: American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, the California Veterinary Medical Association and Mid Coast Veterinary Medical Association.
