Vetama is a proud West Coast veterinary company with great beginnings in the 805 and 858. From the Central Coast to Southern California, we’re redefining veterinary care with passion, innovation, and a learn by doing attitude.
Our story begins with Dr. Dorian, a mixed-animal veterinarian and seasoned entrepreneur. In 2001, he founded "Mobile Vet Practice," serving the heart of San Diego. By 2017, he expanded his vision to the Central Coast with, "Central Coast Veterinary Services."
In 2022, the founders (Dr. Raffy Dorian, Dr. Daniel Gutman, and Jacob Wright) came together to launch Vetama - blending decades of veterinary and business experience - to expand the capabilities of CCVS and serve more pets on the West Coast.
Now we are creating an entirely new experience for today's pet owner by blending the personalized touch of small-town mobile medicine with cutting-edge tech for seamless care.
We are dedicated to getting the best care as quickly and conveniently as possible. By utilizing new technologies, we are able to deliver a connected, easy experience to our pet owners. By offering multiple service types, our pet owners can access the type of care that is best for them.
Innovation - Our systems, technology, and delivery methods set us apart from traditional veterinary providers and allow us to deliver cutting edge service to pet owners in our network.
Collaboration - Challenges in today’s veterinary industry, such as access to care, pricing barriers, and provider burnout will only be solved by working together with one another.
Compassion - We treat every pet owner and patient with the utmost care and respect. We treat all our patients as if they were our own.
Convenience - We offer accessible and efficient services that reduce the stress and hassle of the traditional veterinary experience, and we make quality veterinary care easy and straightforward for pets, owners, and veterinarians.
The Vetama story starts with the original mobile vet, Dr. Raffy Dorian. Dr. Dorian is a mixed animal veterinarian and entrepreneur, having started multiple practices in CA throughout his career. In 2001, he started "Mobile Vet Practice" serving San Diego.
In 2008, Dr. Daniel Gutman started shadowing Dr. Raffy Dorian while an undergraduate at San Diego State University. Dr. Gutman went on to veterinary school and graduated in 2017.
In 2017, Dr. Dorian moved from San Diego to San Luis Obispo and opened another mobile practice called, "Central Coast Veterinary Services." Jacob applied to shadow under Dr. Dorian in 2019, just before the COVID pandemic.
During COVID, veterinary practices became overwhelmed, veterinary burnout skyrocketed, and pet owners became upset with the veterinary industry. However, Dr. Dorian's mobile practice shined. People loved the convenience, professionalism, and ease of mobile veterinary medicine.
In 2020, Dr. Gutman contacted Dr. Dorian after relocating to San Luis Obispo. Dr. Gutman inquired about working with his mentor once again, this time as a veterinarian. Dr. Dorian - who's mobile practice was booming - was excited about working with Dr. Gutman again. After Dr. Gutman joined the practice, Jacob shadowed Dr. Gutman and Dr. Dorian.
In 2022, Dr. Dorian, Dr. Gutman, and Jacob came together to launch Vetama based on Central Coast Veterinary Services. Vetama is the future of connected veterinary healthcare.
In 2022, Vetama was accepted to the Cal Poly CIE Hothouse incubator program. During this program Vetama was able to hone the branding, get access to resources, and develop our platform.
In early 2023, Vetama opened a pilot location with Dr. Kasey Joynt in Salem, OR. This location spun off to become known as Joynt Veterinary - owned and operated by Dr. Joynt.
In 2024, Vetama opened operations in San Diego, nearly 23 years after Dr. Dorian originally opened his "Mobile Vet Practice" in San Diego.
